10 of the Most Exciting New Tech Products from CES 2017

It’s been about a month since the always exciting CES Consumer Electronics Show for 2017 happened in Las Vegas. Attending the show, or simply reviewing some of the best top products to be announced there is a great way to stay on top of the latest trends in technology and get a better understanding of the newest tech products that are planned to be launched this year. Some of the top new product innovations were smartphones, IoT devices, cars, smarthome technology, mobile electronics and more. Here are 10 of the most exciting, state-of-the-art technology products that were most excited to see at CES 2017.

 

  1. LG Signature OLED W7 Flat Screen Television:

LG calls this new model the “lightest, thinnest, and most beautiful TV on the planet”. It is 2.57 mm thin and available in 65 inch or 77 inch models. It runs webOS 3.5, LG’s custom TV software. The OLED W7 as well as many other LG 2017 models features Active HDR for displaying next-generation HDR content designed to render brighter scenes and greater shadow detail.

 

  1. Nvidia’s “the Shield”:

Nvidia brought an updated version of its Android-powered Shield TV Box called “The Shield” to CES. It features full 4K HDR capabilities plus it streams Netflix in HDR, plays movies on Google Play, Amazon, and some limited content from YouTube in 4K. The Shield also streams games in 4K.

 

  1. HTC Vive:

The first big announcement and upgrade for the HTC Vive virtual reality gadget is the TPCast. It is an add-on that makes the HTC Vive VR completely wireless. The second big announcement was that they launched the world’s first Virtual Reality subscription service, which is like, “Netflix for Virtual Reality”.

 

  1. Amazon Alexa-Powered Devices:

Amazon wasn’t even at CES to talk about Alexa or announce anything; instead there were plenty of new announcements for devices that are powered by Amazon Alexa. Soon, you will see all types of connected devices and appliances for Alexa like: Alexa-power refrigerators, Alexa-powered cars, Alexa-powered lights, and other smart home technology devices that work in conjunction with Alexa.

 

  1. Faraday Future’s FF91 “Car of the Future”:

Faraday Future has been creating a big buzz, especially leading up to CES 2017. They are known as the company developing “the car of the future” which is an intelligent, self-driving, electric vehicle. You can watch their YouTube reveal here. The FF91 “new species” of car  won’t even be on the market until 2018, but if you are interested, you can still place a preorder to be one of the first owners of “the car of the future”.

 

  1. Asus ZenFone AR:

The ASUS ZenFone AR is the world’s first Tango enabled and Daydream ready phone. If you aren’t familiar, Google Project Tango is Augmented Reality technology and Daydream is Virtual Reality technology. It already is unmatched, but on top of the it also has 3D scanning capabilities and is equipped with the TriCam system with three rear cameras. The phone is still only 5.7 inches. Planned release of this amazing smartphone is for the 2nd Quarter of 2017.

 

  1. Honor 6X:

By all respects, the Honor 6X is an average smartphone. It has dual cameras (a 12 megapixel and 1 megapixel companion), a fingerprint scanner, a 5.5 inch LCD screen, Full HD resolution, Kirin 655 processor and 3GB or 4GB RAM. What makes the news about this new smartphone so exciting is its sticker price. It sells for £225/ $ 250 and is already available online in China.

 

  1. Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 Laptop:

This new hybrid laptop by Dell is competition for the Windows Surface. It is hinged for use as a tablet, tent, or a laptop position and, the 13 inch screen makes it the smallest 2-in-1 laptop hybrid. It is available in Full HD or with a Quad HD display. Even though it is small, it packs a punch of power with an Intel Core i7 processor and a battery life of up to 10 to 15 hours or 7 hours of streaming via Netflix. A fingerprint scanner gives it state-of-the-art security technology.

 

 

  1. Blackberry Mercury:

Don’t count Blackberry out! This is the last phone they designed and engineered in-house but will be manufactured and sold by their new partner TCL. The Blackberry Mercury prototype smartphone was displayed at the show with the familiar Blackberry signature QWERTY keyboard – now with touch and type capabilities. As usual, you can expect excellent security features from Blackberry, and the Mercury will have state-of-the art security technology including a fingerprint scanner.

 

  1. Wireless Samsung Speaker and Soundbar:

Of course, being an acoustics company, we can’t have a list without noting one of the top innovations in wireless speaker and soundbar technology. Gone are the days of big, bulky surround sound systems. This Samsung Soundbar MS750 and the Wireless Speaker H7 are equipped with new 32 bit UHQ Audio technology that provides a wide sound range. The MS750 is Samsung’s first Soundbar and it has a built-in subwoofer that helps it provide a powerful home cinema sound experience. You can access music from their playlists or access streaming music services.
