Asymmetric Co-op Stealth Game Hacktag Now In Open Beta
Although there is certainly no shortage of stealth games to play, few let you take on scenarios with a partner. Hacktag is a co-op game that aims to break that trend, and it now has an open beta on PC for players to test out.
Developer Piece of Cake Studios announced this week that the game is in beta ahead of its move into early access on Steam. The early access launch was originally planned for May 18, but the studio has moved it back to June 1 to provide more time for improvements to the online experience.
Hacktag is an asymmetric cooperative “infiltration” game in which one player acts as an on-the-ground agent and another plays the role of hacker. The studio describes it as a cross between “Mission Impossible and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.” It supports both local and online multiplayer, features three types of missions, and has procedurally generated levels.
If you’re interested in checking it out, you have to register for the beta by subscribing to the studio’s email list at its website. It still says “closed beta” on the form, but the developer states on the confirmation page after signing up that it’ll send out open beta keys.
