Fabrik: Simple ebook reader with Dropbox support

Ebooks are portable digital versions of printed books. Being digital in form, such books are easy to carry around in one’s tablet or smartphone. There are millions of ebooks on the Web, and there are also numerous ebook reader apps for Android.

One new ebook reader app that we find worth checking out is Fabrik, created by XDA Developers member eirikrwu. It is a simple eBook reader that supports Dropbox accounts. This means that you can store your ebooks in the cloud via Dropbox, and Fabrik lets you access and read them wherever you are for as long as you have Internet connection.

When connecting the app to your Dropbox account, you just need to choose the folder where you’ve saved the ebooks and the app will detect the files. The app then displays the book covers on the app’s main screen. Tap the ebook so you can start reading. Fabrik can also autorotate so you can read your ebooks either in portrait or landscape. It can also prevent the screen from sleeping.

The app has only few customization options, like changing the brightness of your screen, locking the rotation of your screen, and changing the font size. If you are having a hard time reading on a dark display, then change the brightness. You just need to scroll up or down to change the brightness of the screen. If you prefer to read in large fonts, then just tap the plus (T+) or minus (T-) icons to change the font size.

When flipping through pages, the visual experience is like that of flipping through a real book, thanks to the flipping animation.

What I like most about Fabrik is that it logs or remembers where you’ve left. You don’t have to manually search for the page where you’ve stopped reading last time.

Fabrik packs only the essential features. They are few, but they are never useless. So, if you are seeking an alternative to your current ebook reader, check out Fabrik, which you can download for free from the Google Play Store.

What are your thoughts about this new ebook reader? Is it better than the one you currently use?
